Best Novelty
The judging of the new cultivars is done by an independent judging committee of the Royal Association for Boskoop Cultures (KVBC) where everything revolves around assortment. This ensures the correctness and quality of the inspections. The jury judges the plants on ornamental value, flower colour, flowering time and period, leaf colour, plant shape but also on characteristics such as health and propagation. Below are the entries for judging during GROEN-Direkt's Summer Days on 10 and 11 June 2024.

Compass Plants B.V. & Hans van der Meer Potplanten
Astilbe simplicifolia ‘Pretty in Pink’ is a special perennial plant that grows to about 70-80 cm in height and blooms from June to July. The plant has a long flowering period of about 8 weeks. The flowers are bicolored, with light and dark pink shades in elegant, hanging spikes. Astilbe simplicifolia ‘Pretty in Pink’ was bred by Hans van der Meer from Nieuwe Wetering, and plant breeders’ rights have been applied for. The plant was submitted for the novelty inspection by Compass Plants B.V. in combination with Hans van der Meer Potplanten. They are also marketing the plant.
