Astilbe simplicifolia 'Pretty in Pink' has remarkably long and beautiful pendulous flower spikes for a simplicifolia variety. The flowers are bicoloured with pale pink and dark pink hues. The plant has a very long flowering period of about six weeks, from June into July. The plant grows well and has a height of 60-70 cm. The leaves are somewhat coarser for a simplicifolia and are dark green in colour. The plant was bred by the partnership Mr J.M.W. van der Meer and Mrs E.H. van der Meer-Godijn from Nieuwe Wetering. Plant breeders' rights protection has been applied for. The plant was submitted by and is also marketed by Compass Plants BV from Hillegom in collaboration with Hans van der Meer Potplanten from Nieuwe Wetering.
