Novelties

At the PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt trade fair, it’s all about garden plants! During two days the product of growers and breeders is central. That’s why a novelty review is a must at the fair.

There are three categories in which plants are judged: Best Market Release, Best KVBC Novelty and Visitors’ favourite. Participation in the Novelty Contest is exclusively for exhibitors of PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt.
Novelties can be registered for the inspection for the Best Market Release and/or for the Best KVBC Novelty.
For the Visitors’ Choice, plants are nominated from the entries by the fair organizers.

Submission

Registration of novelties was possible until 5 August.

To participate in the novelty review, the plants and/or concepts must be registered by means of the registration form.

1. Best Market Release

Plants and/or concepts can be submitted under this category. Did you develop a new marketing concept around a plant, a biodegradable pot, unique POS material, or a product that is completely new on the market? Then submit it for the inspection! In the judging of the plants of this category, the plant/concept is looked at through the eyes of the trade professional. Points such as shelf life, availability, responsible product and suitability to current market needs are important. The jury is composed of experts from various countries and areas of expertise in the trade channel

  • Harald van Meurs, owner of AllGreen (Netherlands), full-service supplier for garden center chains
  • Gilles Cailleau, purchasing manager green at Group Sévéa (VillaVerde), (France)
  • Erwin Meier owner of Meier Garten Center (Switzerland)
  • Peter Paul Kleinbussink, managing director of Intratuin Netherlands
  • Brenda Horstra, deputy director of Tuinbranche Nederland

Fees: € 225.00 per submission

2. Best KVBC Novelty

This category allows new cultivars to be submitted. Judging is done by an independent KVBC jury that visually judges the plants on ornamental value, such as flower color, flowering time and period, leaf color, shape of the plant, etc. In addition, the jury will assess characteristics such as health and reproduction.

Fees: € 225.00 per submission
A plant can also be registered for inspection in both categories.
The costs for inspection are then€ 375.00 per registration.

3. Visitors' favourite

This is an assessment by the fair's visitors. The fair organization nominates 10 to 15 plants from the applications for Best Market Launch to participate in this election. Visitors can cast their votes by means of the green balls.
