Weigela 'ZR1' (ELECTRIC LOVE) is a new, healthy, and winter-hardy Weigela that blooms twice a year with dark red flowers and white stamens. With a final height of around 40 cm, it is a truly compact Weigela. The variety features spectacular dark brown, glossy foliage. The breeder of this plant, protected by plant breeder's rights, is Bert Verhoef from Hazerswoude. Vliet New Plants from Stroe represents this cultivar. Joh. Stolwijk & Zonen from Boskoop submitted this new cultivar for evaluation and will introduce it to the market for garden landscaping in a 3-liter container and for retail in a 5-liter container. The variety will be widely available from August 2023.
