J.C. Niesing from Boskoop has submitted the Weigela Picobella series for Best Market Innovation. This series includes Weigela Picobella Rosso ('TVP3'PBR) with red flowers, Weigela Picobella Rosa ('TVP2'PBR) with pink flowers, and Weigela Picobella Bianco ('TVP4'PBR) with white flowers. These Weigela Picobella plants remain extremely compact (dwarf shape), reaching a height of about 50-60 cm in the garden and 40-50 cm in pots. This makes them suitable for gardens of all sizes, from large to small. These plants stay more compact than other Weigela varieties and have finer leaves than usual. Additionally, they produce a profusion of flowers from May to October. The plants are winter-hardy down to -25°C, can thrive in various soil types, and require minimal maintenance—pruning is optional. This consumer-friendly product returns year after year. The flowers of these Weigelas are attractive to bees and bumblebees, contributing to biodiversity. The product is readily available for cash & carries, landscapers, and garden centers. J.C. Niesing is introducing this series of plants to the market, and Plantipp from IJsselstein represents the variety.
