Atriplex nummularia 'Silver Holly' is a compact growing foliage plant with bright silver leaves. The leaves are similar in shape to Ilex, but the leaves and branches are much softer. The plant can be used in dry and sunny areas and survives even in cold weather. It is a very low maintenance and durable, drought tolerant and salt resistant plant and therefore well suited for coastal areas. The plant blooms with small yellow to brown flowers that emerge in winter. Silver Holly' is marketed by F.N. Kempen V.O.F. of Mijdrecht, Bental of Rijsenhout and Marathon Plants of Marathon (GR) and is available all year round. It is bred by Marathon Plants from Marathon (GR), where protection under the plant breeders' legislation have been applied for. F.N. Kempen and Bental have submitted the plant for inspection.
