Skimmia japonica 'Monelle' (MAMMA MIA) is a richly flowering Skimmia with wonderfully fragrant flowers and red berries. 'Monelle' produces a large quantity of berries, and the flower plumes are substantial. This cultivar grows faster than Skimmia reevesiana and slower than Skimmia japonica ‘Pabella’. The cultivation is energy-efficient, and the plant retains its foliage well. It blooms throughout the entire autumn, adding color to the garden. This Skimmia, protected by plant breeders' rights, is bred by Hans Steenkamer from Boskoop. Ben Rijnbeek b.v. & De Jong Plant b.v. from Boskoop have submitted it for testing and will also introduce the plant to the market starting from late August 2023.
