Rhododendron 'Mapo 2' (PINK STAR) is a striking new addition to the Rhododendron range, with flowers that immediately catch the eye. Each bloom features an impressive twenty to thirty petals – a rare trait in this genus – resulting in a lush and almost magnolia-like appearance. The deep reddish-pink colour is reminiscent of the elegant Magnolia stellata, making PINK STAR a true showstopper during its flowering period in April and May.

In addition to its remarkable bloom, Rhododendron PINK STAR offers exceptional versatility. With its compact, bushy growth habit and semi-evergreen foliage, the plant is perfectly suited for pots on terraces, patios, or balconies, but also makes an excellent garden plant or choice for mass planting.

PINK STAR is a seedling won by MP Plant di Ponjee Martinus of Pistoia (Italy). The plant is protected by plant breeders' rights and has been marketed by Leybaert BV of Lokeren (Belgium) since 2024. Leybaert BV also submitted this Rhododendron for testing. Plantipp represented this plant.
