Molinia caerulea 'Banshee' is a new ornamental grass that immediately stands out thanks to its airy and elegant flowering. From June until the first frost, Banshee produces graceful flower spikes in a range of colours—from deep purple to red and pale pinkish white. In autumn, the flower stems turn a warm orange-yellow, adding even more ornamental value. Even in winter, Banshee maintains its garden appeal with an attractive silhouette that adds structure to the landscape.
This upright-growing grass is not only visually appealing but also highly resilient. Banshee is tolerant of sea winds and air pollution, as well as drought, heat, and humidity. It is not prone to disease and is highly attractive to butterflies, making it a valuable addition to both naturalistic and urban garden settings.
Molinia 'Banshee' was bred by Artur Maj in Poland. Cammeraat Potcultuur BV has been marketing this plant since 2024 and has submitted the legally protected variety for novelty evaluation. Plantipp B.V. is managing this new variety.
