Lewisia cotyledon “Marianne” (SUNSET GLOW) is a striking new Lewisia with an exceptionally long flowering period and intense red, star-shaped flowers that catch the eye immediately. SUNSET GLOW forms a compact, spherical plant, making it an eye-catcher in the rock garden, on the patio or balcony. This perennial first flowers in late spring to early summer, with a second rich bloom from September until the first frost. The flowers are very attractive to pollinators.
SUNSET GLOW is drought-tolerant once the plant is well rooted, and therefore ideally suited to sunny, well-drained sites. The cultivar is from seed selection and was won by Phillip van Hilst (Alpine & Bijzondere Rotsplanten, Kaatsheuvel). Kientzler Jungpflanzen GmbH & Co. KG will market the plant from 2025. The plant is protected by plant breeders' rights and has been nominated for testing by Kientzler Jungpflanzen. Plantipp represents this plant.
