Hydrangea macrophylla 'Hokosiri' (MILLION STARS) is an extraordinary newcomer that immediately catches the eye with its abundance of blue, star-shaped flowers. Each shoot produces a bloom, resulting in an exceptionally rich flowering display that makes this compact plant a true garden showpiece. It’s no surprise the name MILLION STARS was chosen—it’s as if the plant is covered in a galaxy of blooms.
This unique hybrid is the result of a cross between Hydrangea serrata and macrophylla, combining the refined elegance of Serrata with the flower size and profusion typical of Macrophylla. The lacecap-style blooms have a graceful, ornamental quality, while the plant itself maintains a compact, well-branched form—ideal for both garden use and container planting.
Hydrangea MILLION STARS was bred by HOKO Breeding in Boskoop and will be commercially available from June 10, 2025, through Van der Peijl Tuinplanten. The variety is protected by plant breeder’s rights and has been submitted for novelty evaluation by Van der Peijl Tuinplanten.
