Heuchera sanguinea 'Heucherette Red' demonstrates that a seed-raised Heuchera can rival vegetatively propagated cultivars. This compact and floriferous selection from PanAmerican Seed stands out for its exceptionally strong flowering performance and highly ornamental foliage.
The large, bright red flowers are borne on sturdy, relatively short stems, giving the plant a compact and well-balanced appearance. Its distinctive silver-green foliage with purple tones adds further ornamental value, ensuring that Heucherette Red remains attractive throughout much of the season. This combination of striking foliage and abundant flowering provides genuine added value in a single plant.
As the first strongly flowering Heuchera sanguinea developed from seed, this introduction was bred for strong retail appeal as well as excellent garden performance. It is ideally suited to combinations for spring and early summer and performs best in partial shade. Thanks to its compact habit, vibrant colours and uniform flowering, Heucherette Red is an attractive choice for retailers and consumers alike.
This seedling was developed by Martijn Baijens of PanAmerican Seed and was introduced to the market by Florensis in April 2026. The variety is not protected by plant breeders' rights.
