Cornus kousa ‘Corheesft’ (WATERMELON SUGAR SENSE)

Cornus kousa 'Corheesft' (WATERMELON SUGAR SENSE) is a new dogwood with tricoloured variegated leaves and many large white flowers. The egg-shaped leaves are green in colour and the new shoots are white-pink variegated from July onwards, distinguishing this Cornus from all other Cornus kousa! This colouration remains until the leaves start to fall off the plant. The plant flowers in May-June with large (diameter 10 cm) white, star-shaped flowers. From August, the typical strawberry-like, large bright red fruits appear. Cornus kousa 'Corheesft' (WATERMELON SUGAR SENSE) was won by Van Aart Nurseries, Oudenbosch, and Van Heesbeen Cultures bv, Rijsbergen, and is protected by plant breeders' rights. Asra Plant bv from Meer submitted the plant for testing and is also bringing it to market.
