Clematis 'Kolwimamil' (MAGICAL MILOU) stands out for its striking burgundy-red flowers and its long and abundant flowering period. This healthy, repeat-flowering selection starts blooming as early as May and continues to produce new flowers until September.
The medium-sized, single flowers retain their intense colour throughout the entire flowering season and do not fade, a characteristic that clearly distinguishes Magical Milou from comparable red-flowering cultivars. The contrasting yellow stamens enhance the colour effect, while the white undersides of the petals add extra depth and visual appeal.
The foliage also contributes to the ornamental value of this new introduction. Its delicate, fresh dark green leaves remain remarkably healthy in spring and do not develop the spotting that is sometimes observed in comparable red cultivars.
Magical Milou offers important advantages not only for consumers but also for professional growers. In spring, the plant maintains its compact habit, sets flower buds at an early stage and grows neatly along its support. In addition, it branches readily and is easy to propagate.
This seedling was developed by Kolster BV and Marco de Wit Boomkwekerij BV and will be introduced to the market by Marco de Wit Boomkwekerij BV from August 2026 onwards. Plant breeders' rights have been granted for this variety, which is intended for sale through garden centres, DIY stores and florists.
