Van Son & Koot BV has entered Hydrangea 'Botex506' (BLOOMBALL PINK) for the Green Retail Award for Best Novelty. Developed for the consumer market, this compact hydrangea combines a modest growth habit with abundant flowering.
The seedling, bred by Botanic Experience BV, is characterised by its strong branching habit, which results in the formation of numerous shoots. Each of these contributes to the dense, rounded shape of the plant and supports the development of the many small, spherical flower clusters in a warm shade of pink. Together, they create the full, ball-shaped appearance that gave BloomBall Pink its name.
The combination of compact growth and prolific flowering distinguishes this introduction from many existing cultivars. As a result, the plant is suitable for a wide range of applications, including patios, balconies, hanging baskets and garden borders.
The variety is protected by plant breeders' rights and will be marketed by Van Son & Koot BV from spring 2027.
