Hydrangea arborescens ‘SMNHAGOV’ (INCREDIBALL STORMPROOF) is a new variety within the well-known Incrediball® range and distinguishes itself through a combination of strong stems, reliability, and abundant flowering. This robust hydrangea has been developed for the consumer market and is suitable as a garden plant, for garden centres, and for professional landscaping projects.
The variety has a dense, compact growth habit with healthy dark green foliage and stands out for its exceptionally strong stems. As a result, Incrediball Stormproof® is better able to withstand heavy rain and wind, while the large number of white flowers remain upright throughout the season. Although the individual flowers are smaller than those of Strong Annabelle®, this cultivar produces significantly more flowers, resulting in a rich and long-lasting floral display.
In addition to its improved weather resistance, this Hydrangea arborescens distinguishes itself through vigorous growth and reliable performance in the garden. The compact, full growth habit provides an attractive plant structure and makes the variety suitable for a wide range of applications, from private gardens to professional landscaping.
The combination of improved weather resistance, reliable growth, and long-lasting ornamental value makes Hydrangea arborescens ‘SMNHAGOV’ (INCREDIBALL STORMPROOF) a valuable addition to the existing hydrangea assortment. The variety was bred by Spring Meadow Nursery Inc and will be commercially available from autumn 2026 through Van der Peijl Tuinplanten BV and Kordes Jungpflanzen GmbH. Plant breeders’ rights are currently pending.
