Hydrangea Groundbreaker® by Boomkwekerij Alex Schoemaker, Boskoop is an innovative hydrangea concept featuring the world's first ground-covering panicle hydrangeas. The series combines a compact, low-growing habit with spreading growth, making the plants suitable as ground cover as well as for containers, balconies, terraces, small gardens, borders and public green spaces.
Thanks to their ground-covering habit, the plants help retain soil moisture, supporting healthy soil life and biodiversity. At the same time, Groundbreaker® hydrangeas require very little maintenance, making them an attractive choice for both consumers and professional users.
To support retail sales, an extensive promotional package is available for professional partners. Sustainable production is backed by MPS A+ and MPS-GAP certifications.
The series has already received international recognition: Groundbreaker® Blush was awarded a Gold Medal at Plantarium 2024, while Groundbreaker® Ruby achieved second place at the Chelsea Flower Show 2026.
